Why I build

Retention is a product decision. So I build products.

People rarely drop a product for lack of features. They drop it when the next step is unclear, progress feels invisible and nothing brings them back.

So I build products that show the next step, remember what users did and make it easy to keep going. Five so far: Echolis, an IFS-inspired reflection app, and four AI learning web apps. It's Lifecycle & Platform Strategy applied to product.

Built into all five products
🧭

A clear next step

Today's plan in the learning apps. One open question from the Observer in Echolis.

🧠

Progress that builds up

Spaced review and mistake logs. Memory and patterns in Echolis.

🔔

Reasons to come back

Streaks, titles and a weekly leaderboard. A daily reminder in Echolis.

🔐

Users stay in control

A light name and PIN. In Echolis, memories users can see and delete.

How I build

One process for all five products. I own every step and work with AI agents on content, code and tests.

  1. Define the userWho they are, what they need and how progress is measured.
  2. Spec with guardrailsAnswer validators and safety rules. Nothing ships until it passes.
  3. Build leanOne shared engine for the learning apps. One web app that also runs on iPhone.
  4. Test on phone & desktopKey flows end to end. Answers and safety cases re-checked automatically.
  5. Ship & iterateRead the logs and fix what real use reveals.
Echolis · web + iOS app

A reflection app, built end to end.

An IFS-inspired reflection app, designed, written and shipped solo with AI agents. Live on the web and the App Store.

Echolis · Inner Voices

LIVE · WEB + APP STORE

"You are not one voice. You are a conversation." An IFS-inspired reflection space built for two groups. For individuals: users write about a real moment, their parts answer in their own voices (the Protector, the Wounded Child, the Analyst and the Hidden Part), and an Observer leaves them one question. For practitioners: a dashboard for coaches and practitioners who work with parts. Clients connect with their own invite code and choose what to share, and the practitioner sees summaries only, so each session starts from what came up in between.

🛡️ A reflection space, not therapy. It can sit alongside professional support, and is not for crisis situations.

Problem
Most AI companions offer one agreeable bot, so the inner conflict behind a reaction stays hidden.
Role
Solo: product strategy, design, build and lifecycle.
Highlights
  • Inner parts that reply to each other, then one question from the Observer
  • Memory and patterns that users can see and delete
  • Live on the web and the App Store, freemium with a Premium subscription

💬 Inner conflict, not a cheerleader

Most AI companions offer one agreeable bot. Echolis splits what users write across their inner parts, which reply to each other, so they see the conflict instead of just being soothed.

❓ Asks, doesn't advise

The Observer ends each reflection with one question, not a fix or a verdict, so the insight work stays with the user instead of depending on the app.

🧠 Memory users control

Parts remember earlier sessions and patterns surface over time. Users can see and delete their memories.

📊 Designed for retention

Built with a lifecycle mindset, with a weekly product scorecard (retention, active writers) and lifecycle messaging designed in.

📝 Reflect

Write freely or follow a guided start. The parts that are present answer in their own voices, and the Observer closes with one question.

🧶 Untangle a reaction

A step-by-step trace for a reaction that felt too big: trigger, part, what it protects and what it needs.

⚖️ Weigh a decision

For a choice that keeps circling. Every part with a stake speaks before the user decides.

💬 Talk to one part

A one-to-one conversation with a single part, to answer it with awareness instead of reflex.

🧩 Patterns

Pattern cards built from the user's reflections: trigger, protective response, hidden cost and what is already moving.

🌱 Emergent parts

A new part, such as the Inner Critic or the Caretaker, can surface from the user's own writing. They confirm it or say "not me".

🧠 Memory across sessions

Parts remember earlier sessions. Users can see and delete their memories in Settings.

🕰️ History

A timeline of past reflections, with the option to pick up an earlier session where it left off.

🔔 Gentle reminders

A daily reminder at a chosen time, plus a day-3 nudge for anyone who hasn't written yet.

📤 Export & delete

Users can download their story and reflections at any time, or delete their account.

👋 Try before signing up

One reflection on the web with no account, to meet the parts first.

Gentle nudges

A daily reminder at a time users choose, a day-3 nudge for anyone who hasn't written yet, and a short email before the trial ends.

🧩

Patterns that build up

Reflections turn into pattern cards: trigger, protective response, hidden cost, and what's already moving.

🌱

Parts that emerge

Over time a new part can surface from the user's own writing. They confirm it or say "not me", and it keeps its own memory.

For practitioners
Alongside work with clients

Built for IFS-trained therapists and coaches. A separate practice workspace that gives clients somewhere to reflect between sessions, and gives the practitioner a summary before they meet.

  • Practice dashboard with a Clients tab, in its own account type.
  • Client-led connection: the client creates an invite code in their own account, and the practitioner redeems it to connect.
  • Summaries, never raw writing: briefs show pattern signals and neutral session summaries, not what the client actually wrote.
  • The client decides what the practitioner sees: they can pause sharing, choose session by session, preview exactly what the practitioner sees, and disconnect, which removes access straight away.
  • "New since the last visit" is marked for each client.
  • Practice accounts are reviewed by hand before the badge appears.

Coming soon A "what changed since we last met" brief, private notes for each client, and a between-session prompt the practitioner can send for the client to sit with.

🤝 How it's priced
Early accessFree for practitioners while the practice tools are built with them. Pricing will be announced before anything changes.
ClientsClients connected to a practitioner can get Premium free.
Safety decisionsage floor, crisis handling, replies
  • 16+ age floor, the same across the app, the Terms and the App Store rating, with extra safeguards for 16–17-year-olds.
  • Crisis detection tested on single messages and on crises that build gradually. It points people to their local emergency or hotline numbers, while ordinary venting doesn't set it off.
  • Shame and fear replies reassure first, use the person's own words, offer at most one small next step, and never diagnose.

Mandarin Chinese, HSK 1 to 7–9 · for Vietnamese speakers
LIVE

A Mandarin course for Vietnamese speakers that runs from HSK 1 to HSK 7–9 on the HSK 3.0 standard. It uses Sino-Vietnamese (Hán Việt) readings as a memory bridge, and Tiểu Long, a baby dragon mascot, guides the way.

  • Smart flashcards: spaced repetition with tone-coloured pinyin, Hán Việt readings, Vietnamese meanings and example sentences, plus a searchable dictionary by hanzi, toneless pinyin, Hán Việt or Vietnamese.
  • Full curriculum: stroke-order writing practice, the 214 radicals, grammar notes flagging mistakes Vietnamese learners often make, and HSK mock tests for each level with scoring and explanations.
  • Speak it out loud: scenario-based AI conversations with corrections in Vietnamese, and shadowing practice that records the learner, transcribes their speech and compares it with the model sentence.
  • Habit loop: imperial-exam titles from Đồng sinh to Trạng nguyên, streaks, review games, a mistake log and a weekly group leaderboard.

IELTS Academic & General Training · band 4.5 to 9
LIVE

IELTS prep for Vietnamese learners, from band 4.5 to 9, coached by Jack, an orange cat the app also calls Mít. It is built around honest progress, so it never gives a flattering band score.

  • Objective placement: an adaptive vocabulary test with grammar, timed reading and optional listening, weighted and rounded down. Band estimates are split by skill, and the app says plainly when it doesn't have enough data yet.
  • Plan that fits the day: a daily route built from the target band and minutes per day. Listening uses a distinct natural voice for each speaker plus dictation, and the full 40-question Reading mocks convert to a band.
  • AI feedback: Writing and Speaking scored against the four IELTS criteria, with Speaking recorded on phone or desktop. An AI room lets learners debate, practise paraphrasing and turn real English text into flashcards.
  • Habit loop: titles from Freshman to Professor, streaks, daily tips, pronunciation drills, games and a mistake log.

AI & Robotics from zero · career paths
LIVE

Learn AI and robotics from zero, deep enough to understand the field and build a career in it: AI engineering, forward-deployed engineering, robotics or AI product. Lessons are explained in Vietnamese with English terminology, and Bit the robot keeps learners company.

  • Six-track skill tree: Programming, Math for AI, Machine Learning, LLM & GenAI, Robotics and Career. Each lesson comes with key terms, a 4-question quiz, an auto-graded coding exercise and a linked lab.
  • Code in the browser: exercises run right in the page, auto-stop after 12 seconds to prevent runaway loops, and explain errors in Vietnamese. There is a free-form playground too.
  • 17 interactive labs: tokenizers, temperature and top-p, embeddings, attention, a mini RAG, gradient descent, backprop, robot-arm kinematics, drone PID, A*, Q-learning, Kalman filters and lidar.
  • Neuralis Arcade: the first version was too reading-heavy, so learning games, achievement badges and weekly quests were added as a retention lever: a reason to come back, not just another page to finish.
  • Career map: 14 AI and robotics career paths, each with a day in the life, skills, tools, a starter path, portfolio ideas and interview questions. Bit, the AI assistant, can review the learner's code and plan a route to the chosen path.
